Mike Salisbury studied visual arts and sculpture at the Toronto School of Art before graduating from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture.
Mike is the principal and founder of Earthartist Landscape Architecture. The name “earthartist” communicates the vision of Landscape Architecture as functional art, or environmental sculpture.
As the father of two girls, Mike has always been interested in playgrounds as places of natural discovery and learning. Following the death of his mother he began to look closer at the spiritual side of built landscapes. The author of ‘A Feasibility Study of the Woodland Cemetery in Canada’ mike has become one of the leading authorities in the Natural Burial movement in North America.
With a focus on both children’s play environments and cemetery design Mike jokingly claims that Earthartist is one of the few firms that can take care of clients ‘from cradle to grave and everything in between’.
