Junior Grades Creative Playscape
This playscape was designed to integrate into an existing area which had been enlarged to include both hardscape and newly created softscape areas. The grass maze plantings transition into the asphalt area using surface mount delineators. Several play features not requiring fall protection were established including a wood playhouse with miniature windows and doors, a sand play areas with buried boulders for excavation, a planter box for cultivation, and painted games on concrete.
Activity areas in the newly created softscape areas needed to provide climbing challenges within a very narrow footprint. The log climbing and balance beam feature provides a range of physical challenges while the “fat rope” between boulders offers inspiring tight rope walkers and gymnasts a chance to practice their skills
- Key Challenge: Creating a cohesive design within a very disjointed and unusually shaped space..
- Best Feature: The flexible surface mount delineators featured play opportunities limited only by the imagination of the children. They turned out to be a favorite with the students at the school.
